KIWI MAKING WAVES
Kiwi international Rory Mead is making waves on the other side of the world.
He led for most of the latest round of the Grand National Cross-country Championships at the famous Snowshoe round in West Virginia on Sunday.
Taupo’s Mead and fellow Kiwi international Paul Whibley, of Pahiatua, finished fourth and fifth respectively at this sixth round of 13 in the American series.
Here we publish a couple of snaps that were sent this week to BikesportNZ.com, all of them showing Mead in action at the Snowshoe.
With the mountains clear of snow at this time of the year, the tourist facility is the perfect place to host a cross-country dirt bike event.
Defending champion Josh Strang (Suzuki), of Australia, won the day, extending his lead in the 2011 series, with American Nate Kanney (KTM) finishing just two seconds behind.
